The Life Sciences Laboratory: A Place of Discovery

The life sciences laboratory, otherwise known as a life sciences facility, is a place where researchers come together to conduct research and make new discoveries.

Our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and are part of our network which is made up of some of the brightest minds in the life sciences industry.

We give researchers the opportunity to conduct their research efficiently and enable them to better organise their projects with the assistance of our facility management services.

A Look Inside a Life Science Laboratory

Agenda Facility Management’s life science laboratories are home to a wide range of research projects, varying in size from large projects to individual researchers.

Likewise, there’s a variety of projects that our labs facilitate; this enables researchers to explore vital areas of science in pursuit of developing new treatments, medicines, and to achieve new advances in ongoing research.

Some of the lab’s research projects have included:

  • Behavioural research: exploring the behaviour of animals and organisms to help understand how they learn, communicate, and form social bonds. This knowledge has been used to develop new animal-assisted therapies that can help people with a variety of conditions, including autism, anxiety, and depression.
  • Genetic research: improving our knowledge of how animals inherit traits from their parents. This has developed our ability to improve both animal and human health, whilst offering agricultural benefits such as enhancing crop yield and the care of livestock.
  • Physiological research: studying how animals and living organisms function to improve our understanding of how the human body works. This knowledge has been used to develop new medical treatments, such as insulin for diabetes and statins for heart disease.
  • Medical research: understanding animals and living organisms to develop new drugs, advance bioengineering, enhance veterinary medicine, explore diseases, and to better animal welfare to improve the health and well-being of animals.
  • In-vivo research: research conducted in living organisms to improve our understanding of the effects of different treatments and interventions on living systems, allowing us to study a wide range of topics, including the effects of drugs, the progression of diseases, and the response to surgery.

Our Laboratories: Your Research Catalyst

While being a leading provider of facilities management services, with the capabilities to offer our clients a dedicated team of professionals to support their research projects; Agenda Facility Management also has a range of UK life science facilities for our clients to facilitate.

Our life sciences laboratories are highly adaptable with state-of-the-art facilities, allowing our clients to have the right tools at the right time. As a result, we’re able to give them the platform and control needed to scale their research; whether that’s on a flexible pay-as-you-go basis or in a long-term dedicated space.

We have a solution to meet all requirements and budget levels, see a couple of our existing life sciences facilities below.

  • Alderley Park – Macclesfield: Located at the UK’s largest single-site life science campus, our in-vivo facility at Bruntwood SciTech’s Alderley Park supports the thriving ecosystem of over 250 life science businesses based at the campus.
  • Agenda – Cambridge: Located in Cambridge, a world-class hub for biomedical research, the Agenda Cambridge in-vivo facility is newly refurbished to the highest of standards.
  • Agenda Discovery Park – Kent: With circa £3m investment, Agenda Discovery Park benefits from recent regeneration including major energy efficiencies and state-of-the-art facilities for in-vivo research.

Each of our facilities has unique capabilities, find out more here.

Teams of professionally qualified and fully trained Licensed Animal Technicians are available at each of our facilities, so we have staff capable of carrying out studies to your requirements, as well as being able to provide animal husbandry support.
